Major activities are related to specifying and building cognitive (i.e. AI enabled) systems for several vertical industries using advanced signal and information processing technologies.

Job description

The suitable candidate will have to demonstrate the ability to develop mobile edge computing and artificial intelligence (edge AI) applications as well as the ability to realize innovative ideas as proof-of-concept implementations. The core focus of the new position is to contribute to the development of beyond 5G virtualized multi-access edge computing (MEC) AI technologies to support new services such as AR/VR and extreme IoT communications. The development of MEC technologies will be carried out according to the NFV MANO architectures and aligned with the beyond 5G (B5G) networks, i.e. taking into account both ETSI and 3GPP standards. In addition to the technical work, the suitable candidate will contribute to collaborative team efforts on national and internal level through technology demonstrations, general project reporting and scientific publications.


  • Development, configuration and setup of virtualized B5G MEC product for mobile AR/VR applications 
  • Development of edge AI system for future mobile 5G and IoT applications 
  • Realization of core ideas as proof-of-concept demonstrator and integration into the team’s 5G core network testbed
  • Analyze and investigate 3GPP and ETSI specifications regarding MEC, NFV and associated AR/VR and IoT services. 
  • Good knowledge of 3GPP and ETSI architecture & protocols
  • Good understanding of 5G protocols, concepts & procedures (RRM connections, 5G QoS, Mobility, streaming etc.)
  • Proven experience in MEC, NFV and AI technologies
  • Excellent analytical & team-working skills


  • 1+ years of experience in mobile 5G MEC and NFV development (academic or industry)
  • 1+ years of experience in machine and deep learning frameworks (academic or industry) 
  • Master’s of PhD degree in relevant Engineering or Computer Science discipline
  • Solid 5G system architecture and edge/cloud computing knowledge
  • Programming knowledge in C/C+, Python while expert in Linux and CPU/GPU platforms 
  • Technology dissemination experience through journal/conference publications
