Cogninn is a digital consulting company with expertise on AI and virtualization systems for telecom including future Internet application. Major activities are related to building intelligent (cognitive) systems for several industries using advanced signal and information processing technologies.

The suitable candidate will have to demonstrate the ability to develop 5G virtualized O-RAN (Radio Access Technologies) and MEC (Multi-access edge computing) technologies as well as the ability to realize innovative ideas as proof-of-concept implementations. The core focus of the new position is to contribute to the development of beyond 5G RAN protocols and MEC mechanisms by applying virtualization and open source technologies. The development of RAN and MEC technologies will be carried out according to the O-RAN Alliance and 3GPP/ETSI architectures. In addition to the technical work, the suitable candidate will contribute to collaborative team efforts on national and internal level through technology demonstrations, general project reporting and scientific publications.

• Contribution to the development of virtualized beyond-5G SDR technology solutions
• Contribution to the development of mobile edge computing server technology solutions
• Realization of core ideas as proof-of-concept demonstrator and integration into Cogninn’s 5G testbed platforms
• Analyze and investigate 3GPP and ETSI specifications
• Excellent analytical and team-working skills

• 1+ years of experience in mobile 5G RAN and MEC development (academic or industry)
• BSs (desirable MSc) degree in an Engineering or Computer Science discipline
• Solid 5G system RAN and MEC architecture knowledge
• Hands-on experience in the area of networking for the telecoms sector
• Understanding of cloud concepts and SDN+NFV is of advantage
• Expert in both C/C++ and Python in Linux environment on CPU/GPU platforms and/or expert in SDR FPGA Xilinx boards
• Technology dissemination experience through patent submission and journal/conference publications

We are developing AI systems using machine and deep learning for networking and computing infrastructures for several applications such as telecom, Internet, biomedical and finance.

We are looking for an “Embedded Engineer”, who will work on FPGA and embedded systems implementation of complex functions and algorithms for use in 5G-A and AI products of Cogninn.

The main duties for this role is to contribute to the development and benchmarking of the following technologies:

• Design and develop the architecture and embedded software solutions of innovative signal processing systems including AI and 5G.
• 2+ years’ proven track record of hands-on FPGA development where you have taken ownership.
• 2+ years’ of VHDL and Verilog experience in Xilinx Zynq FPGA platforms.
• Embedded C development for ARM and Intel processors in Linux OS.
• Good understanding of technology tradeoffs, with a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
• Able to propose new prototype design mechanisms, frameworks and algorithms including novel ideas.

We are looking for an individual, who has the following qualifications:

• Experience in FPGA platforms development for SDR applications.
• FPGA interface with ARM processors.
• Experience in embedded C in ARM and x86 processors.
• Linux software kernel development and device driver development for SDR devices.
• Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or Physics with MSc) with specialization in electronics.
